UNDERTAKING THE RENOVATION OF 700 YEAR OLD TEMPLE – PANAYUR

Panaiyur is a small hamlet about  45 Km  from the ancient Temple town of Kanchipuram in Tamilnadu. True to the Pallava tradition, every village in this area known in the olden times as Thondai Nadu, reverberates with the old traditions of Temple worship both Saivite and Vaishnavite.

Panaiyur has a 700 year old  Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is blessing us in the name of Sri Thirukkalatheeswarar with His consort Devi Kokilambal. In this quite agricultural village , this temple is tucked away in a corner.

The present state of this temple  is heart rending. Due to the ravages of time and utter neglect over the centuries, this Stone Temple was in ruins. The villagers were taking some care but it was to no avail.

Swamy Sankarananda of Murugasramam, Mambalam visited this temple and inspired the villagers. In this connection, myself, S. Lakshminarayanan, have placed my services to the above cause of helping these villagers to renovate this historic temple.

Below are the pictures taken before and during the renovation. We need a sum of Rs 2.25 lakhs ( about US $ 5000) to complete the work which is half way through.

I appeal to all the citizens of the world, the patriotic Hindus, and the Shiva Bhakthas in particular to rise to the occasion and donate liberally towards this holy endeavour.  We give below the invitations both in Tamil and English.

பணையூர் – மிகப்பழமை வாய்ந்த 700 வருட கோவிலின் திருப்பணிகள்

காஞ்சிபுரமாவட்டத்திலிருந்து 45 கி.மீ. தொலைவில் உள்ளது பணையூர் கிராமம். பல்லவ மன்னர்கள் ஆண்ட பெருமைமிக்க பாரம்பரியத்தைக்கொண்ட இப்பகுதி, அக்காலத்தில் தொண்டைநாடு என்றழைக்கப்பட்டது. சைவசமய வழிபாடும், வைணவ சமய வழிபாடும் ஒருங்கே கொண்டாடப்படும் புண்ணிய பூமி இது. கோயில்களின் நகரம் என்றழைக்கப்படும் காஞ்சிமாநகர் பல்லவ மன்னர்களின் தலைநகரமாக விளங்கியது.

இதுபோல் பல பெருமைகளை உள்ளடக்கிய இப்பகுதியில், பணையூரில் மிகவும் பழமைவாய்ந்த, அதாவது சுமார் 700 வருடங்களுக்கு முன் கட்டப்பட்ட புகழ் வாய்ந்த சிவன் கோவில் ஒன்று உள்ளது.  இங்கு சிவபெருமான் – திருக்காலத்தீசுவராராகவும், அன்னை உமயம்மை தேவி கோகிலாம்பாளாகவும் அருள்பாலிக்கிரார்கள்.  விவசாயத்தை மேற்கொள்ளும் இப்பகுதியினூடே இக் கோவில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

இந்த அற்புதமான சிவன் கோவிலின் இன்றைய நிலை பார்ப்போரை கண்கலங்கச்செய்யும்.  பல கால மாற்றங்களினாலும், மக்களின் வாழ்க்கை முறை மாரியதாலும், பராமரிப்பின்றி சிதிலமடைந்து விட்டது மனதுக்கு வருத்தமாக உள்ளது.  கிராம மக்களினால் முயற்சி மேற்கொண்டு சிறிது பணி நடக்கின்றது; ஆனாலும், இவை நிறைவுத்தன்மையை தரவில்லை.  மாம்பலத்தை சேர்ந்த முருகாஸ்ரமம் ஸ்ரீ சுவாமி சங்கரானந்தா அவர்கள் தயை கூர்ந்து வந்து பார்வையுற்று திருப்பணிகளை ஏற்படுத்த உர்ச்சாகப்படுத்தியது, கிராமவாசிகளை ஊக்கிவித்துள்ளது. இப்பணியில் நான், ச. லக்ஷ்மிநாராயணன், என்னாலான திருப்பணி உதவிகளை சிரமேற்கொண்டு செய்ய என்னை ஈடுபடுத்திக் கொண்டு, நன்கொடை வசூலித்து வருகிறேன்.

உடனடித்தேவையாக ரூபாய் 2.25 லட்சம் தேவைப்படுகிறது ($ 5000), முழுவீச்சில் இப்பணிகள் மும்முரமாக நடந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறது.  சிவெநெறிச் செல்வர்களுக்கும், அனைத்துலக இந்துக்களுக்கும் என் பணிவான வேண்டுகோளை இவ்விணையம் மூலம் வைத்து, உங்களாலான பொருளுதவியை காசோலையாகவோ, பணமாறுச்சேவையாகவோ, மின்மாற்றி மூலம் வங்கிக் கணக்க்கில் இடும்படியோ அனுப்பி, சிவபெருமானின் அருளுக்கு ஆளாக வேண்டுமென்று கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்.

சிவத்தொண்டு புரிவதனாலும், சிவன் கோவில் திருப்பணிகளை மேற்கொள்வதாலும், ஏழுதலைமுறைக்கு உங்களுக்கு புண்ணியம் வந்து சேரும்.  தமிழ்ப் பத்திரிக்கையயை கீழே கொடுத்துள்ளோம்.
